The Silhouette

After many project meetings involving architects, contractors, builders, designers, cabling specialists etc, the new block is taking shape. The silhouette of the blocks against a new dawn holds a special meaning in that it is the beginning a new era for Sudima Christchurch Airport. The demolition of the old frontage tells us to let go of the old and embrace the new!

Last week we changed the door lock system of 2 wings to the Kaba system, this system interfaces to our Property Management System. The key is cut as we check in guests thus maintaining accuracy in guestroom numbers and validity of the key on the number of nights that the guests are staying for, we are definitely moving forward with the times!

Hotel facade getting a brand new look

Our Reception has moved to a temporary location to make way for the construction crew to get on with giving us a brand new Reception/Lobby area and a new façade.

In addition, we have a new hotel entrance by way of container at the front entrance of the building – Very Christchurch don’t you think!

We’re all looking forward to seeing our new look in months to come.

The Revedelopment

SUDIMA CHRISTCHURCH AIRPORT
25 MILLION RE-DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
WELL UNDERWAY!

Sudima Hotels New Zealand, is delighted to announce that the re-development of its iconic Christchurch Airport hotel is now well underway.

As with many projects of this magnitude and in particular in Christchurch, planning and resource consent for the demolition of the original accommodation wing and the refurbishment of other areas of the hotel, has taken longer than expected.

Sudesh Jhunjhnuwala, owner of Sudima Hotels commented recently “Sudima Hotels, is delighted to play its role in contributing to the growth and rebuilt phase of this wonderful city, the gateway to the South Island, by investing close to 25 million in the re-development of Sudima Christchurch Airport, which at completion, will provide first class quality accommodation and conference facilities, servicing all segments of the market both domestically & internationally”.

Whilst the re-development project in its entirety is not expected to be completed until early 2016, the first stage of the project, including the opening of the newly built accommodation wing housing 89 rooms, upgraded lobby and reception, refreshed conference facilities and redesigned façade of the hotel, is earmarked for completion by early to mid-2015. During that time, management wants to reassure all of its loyal customers that the property will continue to operate with as little disturbance as possible, however with a reduced inventory of 158 rooms.

At completion of the entire re-development project planned for 2016, the new look Sudima Christchurch Airport, will boast a total of  247 rooms, a new look exterior and public areas making it one of Christchurch’s finest hotels backed by unparalleled customer service which Sudima hotels are renowned for.
